A quiet network is not one without activity. It is one where activity has a recognizable shape. Routes are named with care, boundaries are deliberate, and unexpected behavior stands out because the ordinary behavior is composed.
Noise often enters through convenience. A temporary rule becomes permanent. A broad route survives because nothing has broken yet. A monitoring exception becomes part of the architecture by accident.
Boundaries
The boundary is the primary design material. It decides what can speak, what can listen, and what must ask permission before crossing into another context.
Good boundaries do not make a network brittle. They make its intent recoverable.
Evidence
Observability should not be a separate layer of decoration. It should be built into the way the network explains itself: route tables, names, logs, and diagrams all telling the same story.
